SLM Salinas Masonry was founded in 2019 by a Salinas-area mason who grew up watching older homes in the valley slowly lose the battle against clay soil movement, coastal fog, and decades of deferred upkeep. The business started with a simple idea: give Salinas homeowners the same straight answers and careful work that a knowledgeable neighbor would give - without the sales pressure that follows homeowners in bigger markets.

Salinas is a working city. The neighborhoods near downtown, where many homes were built in the 1940s through 1970s, see foundation stress every time the rainy season comes and goes. The clay soils in this valley expand and contract more than most homeowners realize, and that movement shows up in cracked brick, deteriorating mortar, and foundations that were never designed to handle it. We know these conditions well, and we build every repair plan around them.

Since 2019, we have worked on homes from the older blocks near the National Steinbeck Center to the newer subdivisions on the east side of the city - and on properties all across Monterey County. The work we are most proud of is the kind that lasts through five rainy seasons, not just one.
